Altered chords are nowhere near as hard as we sometimes think they are. It’s real simple. When you are playing a dominant chord (1 3 5 b7) simply change the 5 to a b5 or #5 and/or add a b9 or #9. That’s it. There’s a bit more to it than that, but that’s really the basics of it.
