In this tutorial we are going to learn about the 7th chords of the major scale that form naturally when you stick to the key you are in. To learn quickly about 7th chords you may like to check out lesson one, ‘how to play 7th chords’.
If we write out a major scale and build a 7th chords on top of each note, we will get a whole bunch of different chords that naturally form by staying true to that key. So if playing chords in the key of C Major, you simply need to play white notes.
If you are playing in Bb Major, for example, you make sure you play Bb and not B natural and the same with Eb.

A quick tip: Chords I & IV are always Major, Chords II, III & VI are minor, Chord V is Dominant and Chord VII is half diminished or also known as minor 7 b5.
